“Makes vocals and instruments sit close to the ear in the mix and upfront; Just Like the Hardware.... feels like an 1176 on steroids”

C-LTD TG-1 Limiter Compressor

Vintage punch. Explosive movement. EMI-inspired character.

The C-LTD TG-1 is not about transparent control — it’s about attitude, movement, and musical compression with unmistakable character.

From smooth stereo buss glue to explosive drum smashing, its diode-bridge style response delivers density, harmonic color, and aggressive energy while retaining a uniquely musical feel.

Now updated with independently captured Left and Right channel profiles for authentic True Stereo operation using TSC Rack’s L/R Split mode.

True Stereo Operation

The original hardware features independently operating channels, each with its own unique analog behavior and subtle sonic characteristics.

To preserve this authenticity, every profile pair was captured independently from each channel of the original hardware.

Unlike conventional stereo processing, the Left and Right channels are not duplicated. Each profile retains its own unique analog fingerprint, closely reflecting the behavior of the original unit.

For the intended experience, load the matching CH1 and CH2 profiles using TSC Rack’s L/R Split mode. This preserves the natural depth, width, and dimensionality of the original hardware.

Sound Characteristics

  • Compression reacts with musical movement and character
  • Transient energy can become explosive when pushed hard
  • Low-end thickens naturally under heavy gain reduction
  • Recovery timing dramatically changes groove and feel
  • Harmonic coloration increases progressively with compression depth

Audio Demo

Compare the original hardware signal and the NAM profile across a range of sources — drums, vocals, bass, synths, and more.
Each example demonstrates how closely the profile captures the tone, compression behavior, and harmonic movement of the hardware.
The NAM and hardware samples are gain-matched to allow for a more accurate evaluation of the capture’s fidelity.
For additional context, a dry (unprocessed) version is also included.

Why this capture is different

  • Multiple compression modes and recovery timings captured
  • Carefully calibrated gain reduction targets
  • Captures both subtle glue and extreme vintage pumping behavior
  • Designed for real-world mixing, drum buss, and stereo buss applications

Waveform Comparison (Hardware vs NAM)

Below is a direct comparison between the original hardware signal and the NAM profile output.
This visualization highlights how accurately the tone, dynamics, and harmonic response are preserved.

Technical notes

  • Format: NAM (.nam)
  • Sample Rate: 48kHz
  • Capture Type: Real hardware
  • Calibration: Studio-level gain staging

Gain Staging Advice

Our captures are pre-calibrated at -18 dBFS input level.
For best results, we recommend feeding the plugin with an input signal close to -18 dBFS.

Because compressor behavior changes significantly depending on input level, hotter signals will result in deeper gain reduction, stronger harmonic coloration, and more aggressive movement.

Please adjust the Input and Output controls carefully to achieve the desired balance between punch, glue, and saturation.

  1. Rated 5 out of 5

If you know the original TG1, you know it’s not meant to be subtle. These profiles completely nailed that aggressive, pumpy British character.
I smashed a room mic track with the limiter profile today, and man… that instant Abbey Road vibe is unreal. It brings out the room energy without making the cymbals sound like harsh trash. It’s gritty, it’s punchy, and it has so much attitude. If you mix rock or raw indie, you need this immediately.
