TOKYO STUDIO CAPTURE
Captured through real hardware. Not modeled — preserved.

Marcus W.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“I’ve spent a lot of time with the original hardware unit in various studios, and the hardest thing to capture is always that specific 'iron' transformer saturation and the way the dual-tube circuit glues the low-mids. Most digital emulations feel a bit flat, but these Tokyo Studio Capture profiles for NAM are on another level.

The transient response is remarkably close to the real deal. I tried the 'Mastering Comp' profile on a folk-rock project today, and it added that expensive, finished sheen without the typical 'digital' congestion. It’s got that weight and authority you expect from the IRON.

If you’re using NAM for mixing and mastering, these are an absolute no-brainer. Can’t wait to see what else TSC has in the pipeline. 5/5.”

S-PL ION Mastering Compressor

Precision control. Tube depth. Mastering-grade compression.

The ION is not about obvious compression — it’s about refinement.

Designed for mastering applications, it shapes dynamics with precision while adding depth, clarity, and subtle tube character that enhances the entire mix without compromising detail.

This is a rare and carefully captured set of profiles, offering a level of control and tonal flexibility not commonly found in NAM libraries.

What you actually get

A set of mastering compressor profiles captured across a wide range of compression behaviors and tonal responses.

Profiles included:

  • ION – Clean Glue
Transparent mix cohesion with minimal coloration.
  • GR: Light / Attack: Light-Medium / Release: Medium / Tube: Low

  • ION – Smooth Glue
Silky compression with refined, musical balance.
  • GR: Light-Medium / Attack: Medium / Release: Medium / Tube: Mid

  • ION – Tube Warm
Subtle harmonic warmth with gentle dynamic control.
  • GR: Medium / Attack: Slow / Release: Slow / Tube: High

  • ION – Punch
Tight, controlled transients with added impact.
  • GR: Medium / Attack: Fast / Release: Fast / Tube: Mid

  • ION – Deep Control
Firm low-end management with extended depth.
  • GR: Medium / Attack: Medium / Release: Medium / Tube: Mid

  • ION – Dense
Compact, focused dynamics with increased density.
  • GR: Medium-Heavy / Attack: Medium / Release: Fast / Tube: High

  • ION – Mastering Comp
    Balanced, all-purpose mastering compression.
  • GR: Light / Attack: Slow / Release: Medium / Tube: Low

How it behaves

  • Dynamics are controlled with precision and transparency
  • Subtle tube harmonics add depth without harshness
  • Compression enhances cohesion while preserving detail

Audio Demo

Compare the original hardware signal and the NAM profile across a range of sources — bass, guitar, synth, and more.
Each example demonstrates how closely the profile captures the tone, dynamics, and harmonic response of the hardware.
The NAM and hardware samples are gain-matched to allow for a more accurate evaluation of the capture’s fidelity.
For additional context, a dry (unprocessed) version is also included.

Why this capture is different

  • Mastering-focused compression targets
  • Wide tonal range from clean to tube-colored
  • Rare hardware capture not commonly available

Waveform Comparison (Hardware vs NAM)

Below is a direct comparison between the original hardware signal and the NAM profile output.
This visualization highlights how accurately the dynamics, transparency, and harmonic response are preserved.

Technical notes

  • Format: NAM (.nam)
  • Sample Rate: 48kHz
  • Capture Type: Real hardware
  • Calibration: Mastering-grade gain staging

Gain Staging Advice

Our captures are pre-calibrated at -18 dBFS input level.
For best results, we recommend feeding the plugin with an input signal close to -18 dBFS.

Due to gain reduction during the profiling process, the output level of a loaded profile may be slightly lower than the original input signal.

Please adjust the Output control to match your source level or to reach your preferred listening volume.
